PRCA introduces 'Pitch Forward' initiative to enhance pitching practices

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), the trade body for the PR, communications and public affairs industry, is today asking for views on how the pitching process can be improved. The move follows frustrations within the PR industry about the current situation. PRCA’s campaign, ‘Pitch Forward: A Better Pitching Process for the Comms Industry’ includes a survey for agencies and clients alike to set out their views, and will be accompanied by focus groups. The trade body aims to propose new best practice, based on this research, in the autumn.

James Hewes, PRCA Chief Executive, said: “We often hear from our members about challenges such as ineffective pitches, convoluted processes, vague briefs, and even being ignored by clients. These inefficiencies are especially burdensome for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and we know that many other industries face similar issues. Streamlined pitch processes are crucial for the success of not only PR agencies but all businesses. It's in everyone's best interest to get it right, and we aim to engage with as many organisations as possible to achieve this."

The PRCA's plan includes engaging organisations that commission PR services through UK-wide focus groups and a comprehensive survey to ensure a wide range of voices are heard. The 'Pitch Forward' initiative seeks to create a more streamlined, transparent, and effective pitching process, supporting both agencies and clients.
