Reuben Sinclair launch support group for parents in PR

PR recruitment specialists Reuben Sinclair have announced the launch of a peer-to-peer networking and support group for parents and parents-to-be working in the PR industry, in association with the PRCA. ‘Parents in PR’ seeks to make it easier for both mums and dads, especially those new to parenthood, to thrive in their career and lead a full family life. The first event, on Thursday 14 March 2024, will include a panel discussion on navigating the return to the workplace after parental leave and will cover legal entitlements, what to do if your role or company has changed in your absence, and how to juggle work and home commitments. Participation will be free for any parent or parent-to-be working in the PR industry, or PR leaders looking to support parents in their organisation.

The group is the initiative of Alexandra Stevens, who returned to her role at Reuben Sinclair after maternity leave two months ago. ‘During my mat leave, I was very lucky to feel supported by my employer, but I would have loved the chance to talk to other parents in my industry about our shared experiences’ she said. ‘It’s my hope that this group will provide an opportunity for parents in PR to learn from both each other and wider industry experts. We also know that most employers want to support parents, but employees often want the chance to voice questions and worries to people outside their firm. This group will provide a safe space to do this.’

The group will welcome babies and children at their events, so that those on parental leave can attend without having to find childcare support.

PRCA Managing Director Renna Markson welcomed the new group. She said: ‘Our industry is increasingly aware of the need to support new parents. Parents in PR will provide practical guidance to mums and dads working in PR, and PRCA is glad to support it.’
